Rebecca Hilderbrand, dietetic intern

Hello (or ‘Howdy’ as we say in Texas)! I am a dietetic intern with the Tri-County Health Department. I am also a career changer with two bachelor degrees. My first degree was in Theatre Arts from Texas A&M Corpus Christi obtained in 2009. Upon graduation, I packed up a suitcase and moved halfway across the world to Israel to pursue a career as a full-time volunteer with a few Non-Government Organizations. During my travels, I developed life skills education for women in children, coordinated volunteer applications and outreaches, and delivered food aid to refugee camps. This career also took me to London and a training center in Missouri. It allowed me to meet and work with people from every single continent. It also sparked a curiosity for nutrition as I witnessed many nutrition-related health disparities in these refugee camps. Thus, I decided to pursue a career to become a Registered Dietitian in 2013. I graduated with my second bachelor’s degree in Nutritional Science from Texas A&M University in December 2017 and am now participating in this dietetic internship. Outside of dietetics, I teach English to students in China almost every morning (and love every minute of it). I recently also got married in October 2018!  In addition to teaching, I enjoy running amongst the beautiful Colorado landscapes and playing with our two puppies in the mountains! From teaching English online to students in China to providing education in a professional children’s theatre, I am passionate about all things education and desire to incorporate my educational skills and cultural background into my new career as a Registered Dietitian. My goal is to provide nutrition education that will promote positive nutrition-related behavior changes within communities.
