Keighly Colangelo, dietetic intern

Keighly Colangelo is a Dietetic Intern in the Tri-County Health Department Dietetic Internship, currently working to pursue her dream of becoming a Registered Dietitian. She graduated from the University of Minnesota- Twin Cities with a degree in Dietetics in May of 2016.

She is from a town outside of the Minneapolis, in the snowy state of Minnesota. Although she grew up in MN, her heart is where her family is from- Buenos Aires, Argentina. She has a big, loud, Argentinian-Italian family, and her culture is a huge part of who she is. She grew up speaking Spanish at home and hopes to use her Spanish throughout her career to connect with Hispanic families.

After graduation, she was fortunate to work for the public health program, Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), as a Nutrition Educator in a diverse county of Minnesota. Being a part of the powerful impact that nutrition education has on improving an individual’s quality of life has shown Keighly the positive impact that public health has on communities. She loved working with mothers and children from such diverse backgrounds and walks of life. Working at WIC led her to Tri-County to continue her journey of becoming a Dietitian.

Keighly is passionate about empowering others to live their best lives and helping people accomplish their goals. She believes that nutrition, wellness, and self-care are ways to live a full life with energy, zest, and happiness. She values building connections and creating trusting environments with others in order to best serve and help people reach their goals.

In her spare time, she loves music, singing, and dancing. Along with nutrition and good food, she believes that music makes the soul happy. Finally, being Italian, she is an advocate for enjoying a big plate of pasta surrounded by family and friends.
